Giving and Gifting

Financial Giving and Gifting at Morton Grove Community Church enables us to provide for our missions and ministries within the community and throughout the world.

Our day-to-day ministries are supported to a large extent through pledges to the General Fund.  This support, overseen by our Session, provides for our staff, worship place, church programs and general mission activities   It is during the annual Fall Stewardship drive that we recommit ourselves to this important obligation.  However, commitments can be made anytime through the year by clicking here.

Gifting can take many forms and is a way to express love and support for the church after being called to God’s Kingdom.  The easiest way to gift is to include a provision in your will or living trust, leaving money or other financial assets (e.g., stock or bonds) to the church.  These gifts can go directly to the church or be contingent on other events occurring.  In addition, gifts can be restricted to a specific purpose or available for general use by the church.

The following wording, in conjunction with a will or trust, may be used to gift to the church:

Gifting a Specific Dollar Amount

I hereby give, devise and bequeath the sum of $_________ to Morton Grove Community Church, located at 8944 Austin Avenue, Morton Grove, Illinois 60053.  This gift is to be used to support the missions and ministries as of this church as determined by its Session.

Gifting Stocks or Bonds

I hereby give, devise and bequeath [provide specific information on the stocks and/or bonds to allow the executor to fulfill your wish] to Morton Grove Community Church, located at 8944 Austin Avenue, Morton Grove, Illinois 60053. Percentage Bequest

I hereby give, devise and bequeath ____ % of my total estate, determined as of the date of my death, to Morton Grove Community Church, located at 8944 Austin Avenue, Morton Grove, Illinois 60053.  This gift is to be used to support the missions and ministries as of this church as determined by its Session.

Your estate or financial adviser can help you determine the most effective form of gifting and may suggest other options depending on your circumstances.

If you are considering a bequest but would like to ensure that your bequest will be used for a specific purpose, please let us know. We would be happy to work with you and your attorney to help you identify ways to give and meet your objectives. We will also work with you and your attorney to craft language to accomplish your goals.

If you are making a restricted bequest, we recommend that your attorney include the following provision to give Morton Grove Community Church flexibility should it no longer be possible for us to use your gift as you originally intended:

If, in the judgment of the Session of Morton Grove

Community Church, it shall become impossible for Morton

Grove Community Church to use this bequest to

accomplish the specific purposes of this bequest, Morton

Grove Community Church may use the income and

principal of this gift for such purpose or purposes as the

Session determines is most closely related to the restricted

     purpose of my bequest.

Please note that bequests of real or personal property (real estate, cars, jewelry, clothes, etc.) may not be accepted by Session as the church does not have the resources to convert these into financial assets.
